About MOSS
Make Our Schools Safe is a coalition of parents, school leaders, elected officials, and passionate individuals who care about keeping our children safe in schools. The Tennessee chapter is the first of its kind, establishing a MOSS presence nationally to further our goal of setting a state-wide funded school safety standard.
MOSS was born out of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre on Valentine’s Day 2018, when our founder, Lori Alhadeff, lost her 14-year-old daughter, Alyssa. The mission of MOSS is to prevent other families from experiencing the same tragedy. Lori worked with Florida leaders to pass Alyssa’s Law, which provides funding for panic alarms to public and private schools across the state. It is time for us to do the same in Tennessee.
Our goal is to work with local and state leaders to set a new statewide safety standard by expanding Alyssa's Law.
